Goin' Up On A Tuesday (or, The Importance of Breaking Routine)
Building and maintaining a consistent eating, sleeping and exercising routine has been THE most important factor in me losing 30 pounds over the last 6 months.
I love my little routine so much. It brings me feelings of safety and joy.
But yesterday, I went to a FRIEND'S HOUSE. On a TUESDAY. We had a SLEEPOVER. I did a NEW YOGA CLASS. I watched a NEW SHOW. I BROKE MY ROUTINE.
But guess what? That was just what I needed to re-energize myself to (hopefully) successfully finish out my week.
Yesterday was a good reminder to me that the purpose of having a routine isn't to follow it to a T and get a gold star at the end of the day. It's to give yourself a baseline to fall back on so you can enjoy When Life Happens. Don't worry, the DMV and your cubicle will still be there tomorrow.
