Elon Musk: I'm Watching Your Ass
When Elon Musk called transit expert 'an idiot' and says public transport 'sucks', I was giddy.
As a DC metro sufferer, I agree that American public transport DOES suck.
When I see Tesla charging stations at my nearby shopping center, I am glad to see the development of eco-friendly infrastructure.
When Musk prophesies that in as few as seven years, SpaceX could land humans on Mars, I'm awestruck and feel so fortunate to live in an age where space exploration has advanced to this extent.
In my corporate America day job, it's clear that Elon Musk is the new Steve Jobs. That is, an innovative, provocative, inspiring technological thought leader who controls the narrative and everyone watches with baited breath.
And yet...I can't help but think the idolization of the uber-wealthy like Elon Musk and, yes, Donald Trump, as troubling.
What if Elon Musk ran for office?
Would Bernie Bro progressives and regular old Dems unite to protest this man, to claim he is, like Trump, just another plutocrat, whose wealth and power is dangerously untouchable and therefore destructive to America's representative democracy?
Or would we cheer and shout VICTORY over Donald Trump's administration and everything he stands for?
