Who sets the tone? YOU!
Ziggy, our new kitten, gets overexcited.
And when he's overexcited, lately, he's been biting his skin and pulling out very tiny chunks of fur.
We googled it and quickly realized, of course, it's a sign of stress and anxiety. Our home life and tone has been too hectic for this little guy. Which means it's been too hectic for us people, as well.
But guess what?
I SET THE TONE OF MY LIFE AND MY SURROUNDINGS.
So, the past week has been a re-set. It's been a ZIGGY. WEEK. Lots of one-on-one time, gentle petting and words, and re-directing when he starts to bite. Yoga. Calm music. Baths. Books. Less chores have been done. Less To-Dos have been checked off. But it's working for Ziggy and myself. This week, the whole family has been more calm. Messy house, fast food dinner, and all.
Being Perfect and Grinding Hard like I've been trying to do for the past three months doesn't create a stress-free, balanced life. We learned that the hard way.
But good news:
You have the agency to give yourself grace and set a new tone for your life and home.
Also? tomorrow is Friday.
